To achieve its goals, the 2063 Academy has worked on three main components:
It is a platform to exchange ideas and experiences between different segments of the society (Youth, senior, experts...) and build their capacities in different fields and focus on soft skills as: debate, policy analysis...
It is a place where youth can exchange freely with high levels and decision-makers on topics related to the SDGs we were tackling and create and intergenerational dialogue.
It is also an opportunity for the the participants to learn and share what they have acquired as knowledge to the public and collect recommendations.
The first edition of the 2063 Academy was organized between April and May 2019, in which we have tackled two major topics: Education and Health.
On the 06th April, the AU Youth Envoy visited Rabat as part of her mission to make the African Union closer to youth. She was welcomed by Mrs. Karima Rhanem – Head of the International Center for Diplomacy and M. Hatim El Otmani – President of Atlas For Development.
The initiative has the caught the attention of the African Union Youth Envoy, Ms Aya Chebbi, as she conducted a meeting to Rabat along with a member of her Advisory Board, M. Nair Abakar from Chad. During her visit, Ms Aya Chebbi conducted a visit to the partners of the 2063 Academy and applauded the initiative and called to be more regional and why not continental. During her speech to the African Union Peace & Security Council, the AU Youth Envoy presented the 2063 Initiative as one of the promising African projects lead by youth.
Our initiative has been chosen by the SDG Action Zone to be presented at the United Nations General Assembly 2019 in New-York. The initiative has been presented by our president, Hatim El Otmani. The SDG Action Zone, held during the High-level week of the UN General Assembly, is a space to break out and engage partners for transformative SDG action in new and innovative ways.
In partnership with the Peace Boat, Atlas4dev has organized a day on climate change and the SDGs, with the participation of the 2063 Academy Ambassadors
